We had a power outage at 5pm today. By the time my neighbors and I got our generators running the power came back on. Shortly after 6pm, I think. The winds are kicking up and got up into the 20 - 25 mph range late this afternoon, so it could be that some more limbs fell. Or, perhaps, they need to kill our juice for awhile when they're hooking up other people. I reported this one to LG&E as soon as it happened. Not that it made any difference, but it can't hurt. I heard that we shouldn't assume that they know about the problem.
The folks behind us on Smith Lane and the homes on the hills behind us are still running generators.
I know some of you are old enough to remember the 1974 tornado. I vividly recall how important AM radio stations like WAVE and WHAS were during that period. (I was working at WAVE.) Vital information was on 24 hours a day. I truly pity people sitting in cold houses looking for some local information and an understanding voice and all they hear is political garbage and other junk. Local radio has failed to serve their communities.
